Deirdre Huston bij Bibliotrek

Deirdre Huston lives on the edge of the South Downs National Park with her husband, three grown up children and a dog who loves exploring footpaths and bridleways. For three years, she was the walks writer of a popular 'Sunday Strolls' column in Sussex Life magazine. She now works as an editor for the community publication, Hassocks Life.

Her latest publication is an updated second edition of Day Walks on the South Downs, published in 2019. A keen walker and cyclist, she is also the author of Day Walks on the High Weald, Sussex Walks, Day Walks on the South Downs, Cycling Days Out: South East England and co-author of Cycling in Sussex. All these guidebooks include Ordnance Survey mapping and are published by outdoor specialist, Vertebrate Publishing.

Deirdre has produced a series of short films about the history of Saddlescombe Farm for the National Trust, capturing insights into the lives of the community over many decades.

A favourite family walk is along the cliffs at Seven Sisters where the light is incredible and the history is fraught with conflict. The people and places of Sussex inspire her creative writing too and, having graduated from the MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, she is writing a historical saga.
